saving the library

With the withdrawal of public funding, our local library was under threat. Christ Church is working with the Burgess Road Library Action Group and Southampton City Council to keep the doors open for the local community.

If you're interested in getting involved in the project and maybe volunteering your help, we'd love to hear from you. You can get in touch here

Many people have questions about God and the Christian faith, good questions and sometimes difficult questions. And they are questions which, if they remain unanswered, make belief in God implausible and impossible. Big Questions is a series of regular events which attempts to answer some of the questions people have. We look at questions relating to the reliability of the Bible; the relationship between science and Christianity; the problem of suffering and many more.

The events are held termly at Burgess Road Library (Burgess Road, SO16 3HF). There is a two course meal with a short talk followed by an opportunity for questions and answers. These are ticketed events, with a charge of £10 per person. The meal usually starts at 7:30pm and finishes by 9:30pm.

We all struggle with the big questions of life. What's it about? Why are we here? Where are we going? Whenever it feels like we're getting a grip on some answers, they seem to slip away.

Christianity Explored is an informal course we run for the local community in Southampton - it's open to anybody who'd like to explore the big questions and particularly weigh up the answers Christianity gives. Over 5 sessions, it explores who Jesus is, what he said and what it means to follow him today.

You're not asked to pray, sing, or read aloud, and you can ask any question you like. Or, if you prefer, you can come along and simply listen. It's absolutely free.

If you think you might be interested, get in touch and we can get the details of the next course to you.
